Quality Education in Central Virginia

Goochland County Public Schools is dedicated to providing all students with a quality education for living in the 21st century. Located in central Virginia, Goochland County Schools currently serves over 2500 students between five schools. Our superintendent is Linda A. Underwood, Ed.D.

We support strong communication between the classroom and families through our teacher blogs. Since 2004 Goochland has been using the PowerSchool student information system which allows parents to gain access to student grades and attendance records. Likewise, secondary students can log in to check their progress throughout the year.

Acceptable Use Policy

This summer, the school board approved an updated acceptable computer system use policy for students (and staff). Details of this policy are going home in our 2010-11 code of conduct. The policy has not changed dramatically for the primary purpose of the computer system for students is still “to conduct research, to share resources, and to create content for facilitating the learning process.”

One reference made in the new AUP document is to “GoogleApps,” a service we will be providing to students at Goochland High School and Goochland Middle School through interested teachers. This service will allow students to create, share, and publish documents using Google’s suite of online tools.

If you have questions about the revised acceptable use policy or the use of Google Apps, .
