The Goochland County Public School Division offers a variety of programs and services designed to prepare students for quality citizenship and learning in the 21st century. These programs cover specific offerings with regard to Special Education, Gifted & Talented and Enrichment, Alternative Education, Career and Technical Education, Pre-Kindergarten Programs, Governor's School opportunities at both the Maggie Walker Governor's School in Richmond and through the Blue Ridge Virtual Governor's School. A wide range of Federal Entitlements are also provided, including Title I (Part A & D), Title II (Part A & D), Title III (Part A) and the Perkins Grant. There are multiple opportunities for dual enrollment through J. Sergeant Community College and advanced placement courses. All Goochland County Public Schools provide special education, enrichment and gifted services.

In 2010, more students in the graduating class participated in SATs.  Participation increased from 56% for the Class of 2010 to 75% for the Class of 2011.  The remarkable part of this increase is that Reading and Math scores also increased.  GHS is in the fourth year of increasing opportunities for rigor.  With the help of VASS, GCPS is increasing the number of students enrolled in AP courses, as well as taking AP exams.
