Byrd Elementary School has established four goals for the 2011-12 school year:
1. BES will have an overall pass rate of 95 % on the Spring, 2012 reading SOL assessment. African American students, students with disabilities, and disadvantaged students will have at least a 91% pass rate (AYP benchmark).
2. All students, including African Americans, students with disabilities, and disadvantaged students, will be reading on or above grade level by the end of the school year as measured by PALS(K-3) and QRI (4-5).
3. BES will have an overall pass rate of 95% on the Spring, 2012 math SOL assessment. African American students, students with disabilities, and disadvantaged students will have at least a 90% pass rate (AYP benchmark).
4. Continue to increase parental involvement in the education of their children.
The faculty and staff, families, and students are working extremely hard to make sure that we achieve these goals! I am so proud of all of them!
As a community, please continue to encourage the students to do their very best. Let them know that hard work is the key to success!
