Before a candidate can be considered for employment, we must first have a completed electronic application packet on file. If candidates do not have access to a computer, you may visit our central office at 2938 River Road West during normal business hours to apply in person.

We categorize positions in three main areas:

Certified Positions

These positions include instructional personnel including teachers, administrators, media specialists, guidance counselors, psychologists, and nurses. Please complete each of the requirements listed below.

  • Application Forms -- The form must be completed in its entirety, including your signature and the date. Unsigned applications will not be considered.
  • Equal Employment Opportunity Data Report -- This is for reporting and auditing requirements.
  • Reference Forms -- As a part of our employee selection process, we request each applicant to provide at least three references from immediate principals, instructional supervisors, department chairpersons, and/or other school administrators under whose supervision you have taught or student taught. Please list those persons to whom you have sent reference forms on the application. The individuals providing references should mail the forms back directly to us. Please do not send them with your application packet.
  • Transcripts-- Official transcripts must be sent from the college or university registrar's office to this office. It is the applicant's responsibility to initiate this process.
  • Virginia Reading Assessment (VRA), Praxis II, Virginia Communication and Literacy Assessment (VCLA) -- The Virginia Department of Education requires that applicants for an educational position must present successful completion of these tests if they have not taught for two full years in an accredited school.
  • Certification-- You should have a Virginia teaching license or a license from another state. Please enclose a copy with your application.

Classified Positions

These positions include secretaries, bookkeepers, bus drivers, cafeteria workers, maintenance staff, instructional assistants, and all others. Please complete each of the requirements listed below.

Please list those persons to whom you have sent reference forms on the application. The individuals providing reference should mail the forms back directly to us. Substitute Teaching Positions

If you are applying to substitute teach with the intent of seeking a full-time teaching position in the future, please refer to certified requirements above. Otherwise, refer to the classified requirements.
