Goochland elementary students have been taking SOL tests since May 1.  We are in the final stretch with only third grade history and third, fourth, and fifth grade math tests left.  It’s easy to feel like we are running out of steam.  Now is the time to re-energize for these final test days.  The kids have had a great attitude, and we thank our parent volunteers for providing breakfast each testing morning.  Our students need to continue to rest well and come to school on time and with a positive attitude.  Parents, please take the time to give your child words of encouragement as they leave home on test day.  These last few days are very important, and we must continue to strive to do our best.

The remaining schedule is as follows:
5/14 - Makeup testing (5th grade science and 4th grade history)
5/15 - Third grade history
5/16 - Fifth (and sixth) grade math
5/17 - Fourth grade math
5/18 - Third grade math
5/21-25 - Makeup testing as necessary

SOL testing season is upon us.  Here is the elementary schedule of tests:

Elementary students taking the Math 6 test will take it the same day the Math 5 test is given (May 16).

Please be sure your child has a good night’s sleep, eats a good breakfast, arrives at school on time, and has a positive attitude toward the day’s test.  These preparations will help your child have a successful testing experience.

We will continue with the SOL Writing Field Test on Wednesday, March 21, 2012.  Please make sure your fifth grade child gets a good night’s sleep and has a nutritious breakfast.  Testing will begin at about 8:45.

Goochland Middle School will host a Parent Night at 6:00 p.m. on February 28 in the GHS auditorium. This will be your opportunity to learn about classes and electives available to your rising sixth graders.  You will also be able to tour the school.
