Warm Weather Reminders…

This is just a reminder of the GCPS dress code. We have seen several students in our halls with inappropriate clothing and shoes. Students must wear shoes that are appropriate for running and playing during PE and recess. Please NO FLIP FLOPS or open backed sandals. Also remember that shorts (and skirts) must be finger tip length and within 2 - 3 inches of the knee. Shirts sleeves must go to shoulder - no spaghetti strap tank tops. Failure to follow these guidelines could result in a phone call home and need for a change of clothing. We appreciate your support!

Here is what the GCPS handbook says:

Students shall dress in an appropriate manner that is not distracting to themselves or to other students or that interferes with the orderly process of instruction. Inappropriate dress includes clothing, jewelry or any personal belongings that advocate violence, gang affiliation, alcohol or drug use. Clothing that is sexually suggestive, advertises obscenities or reflects adversely on persons due to race, gender, creed, national origin, physical, emotional or intellectual abilities is not permitted.

The following are examples of inappropriate dress: halter-, tank- or tube-tops, bare midriffs, and biker shorts. Shoes should have a strap or solid back. Students may wear appropriate shorts (fingertip rule, 2-3 inches above the knee) during warm weather. Hats may not be worn inside the school building. It is important that appropriate and safe clothing and athletic shoes be worn for physical education classes and recess.
