SOL Time

Next Monday marks the start of the SOL writing test schedule. Teachers and students have been preparing for this event all year, and we know the students will do an outstanding job.

We would like to take this opportunity to remind students of a few steps they can take to help them succeed.

- Get plenty of sleep the night before the test. Being well-rested will help you be more alert and think clearly.
- Have a hearty, healthy breakfast. It is hard to work on an empty stomach.
- Do not rush through the test. Take your time, think about what you are doing, and always go over your work after you are finished.

Quad County Band

Goochland High School Band is hosting Quad County Band this weekend.  Approximately 130 students from Appomattox, Buckingham, Cumberland, Goochland, Powhatan, and Prince Edward Counties will be visiting our school on Friday and Saturday.  The students will get a chance to play together, learn from each other, and socialize.

“We call this Quad County Band because we used to have just four counties participating in the event. We’ve expanded, but the name stuck,” said Mr. Gall, our band director.

In a couple of weeks, GHS will be hosting an even bigger band event, with an expected 1,200 students visiting from other areas of Virginia.

Talk to the Dog

The school community now has a voice. Goochland High School’s students can visit the Speak Out website and talk “off the leash.”
The Dog is listening to your questions, comments, and anonymous reports. Selected questions and suggestions will be addressed online, so remember to check back in a few days. Selected submissions will be posted as soon as The Dog has had a chance to chew on them.
