The GHS Robotics team participated in the NASA/VCU Robotics Competition last weekend. The event was sponsored by FIRST Robotics, a national organization that aims to create “a world where science and technology are celebrated and where young people dream of becoming science and technology heroes.”

The Junkyard Dogs worked over a six week period to design and build a robot that could compete in the LUNACY game.  The goal is the collection of game pieces scattered across a low-friction surface and deposit them in the opposing team’s trailers, which are attached to the robots.

The GHS team brought home the Johnson & Johnson Gracious Professionalism award.

In an effort to provide the freshest possible foods for our students, the Nutrition Department will be serving foods prepared with locally-grown produce. The program also aims to educate students about local agriculture and the benefits of eating fresh produce.

Goochland County, in partnership with neighboring localities, will hold the annual Teen Job Symposium on April 25 at the JSRCC Parham Campus. Registered students will have the opportunity to participate in workshops designed to help them find and keep a job, focusing on career development and the strengthening of a work ethic.

Attending students will also have the opportunity to network with local employers looking for summer help, including Ukrop’s and King’s Dominion. Employers will take applications, interview on-site, or set up interviews for future dates.

The writing SOL, originally scheduled for this week, has been rescheduled for next week. The new dates are March 9, 10, and 11.

The Athletic Awards Banquet originally scheduled for March 3 at 6:30 PM is cancelled due to the inclement weather. An alternate date has not yet been determined. Stay tuned to the GHS webpage for more information.
