Mary Badham, who played Scout in the movie version of To Kill a Mockingbird, visited Goochland High School on April 16.

Mrs. Badham stopped by to visit Mrs. Abbott, who has been a fan of both the book and the movie version since she was in high school.

Mrs. Abbott is our 9th grade Language Arts teacher. “Since I decided to become a teacher, I have always wanted to teach this particular book,” said Mrs. Abbott. “You could say I am actually living the dream.”

Ms. Badham gave Mrs. Abbott an autographed still image from the movie. The two of them spent some time in Mrs. Abbott’s room going over the Mockingbird display created over the years by Mrs. Abbott and her students.

Mr. Jay Sykes, Band Director, invited the local No BS! Brass Band to play for our student body. It was an amazing concert that gave the students a new appreciation for some of the instruments they play in their music classes.

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certificate program is well underway.

These students have been going Monday-Thursday, for three hours after school since February 13 to receive this credential before they graduate.  They will not finish up until the beginning of May.
