The track team headed to East Rockingham High School on Thursday where 16 members of the team competed in the Region B meet. The boys team finished 12th out of 22 teams in the region. Jalen Gregory just missed States with a 7th place finish and time of 6:09.39.
Of the 16 that competed, seven will move on to the State meet.
Matt Haller, who finished 2nd in discus at regionals with a throw of 147 feet 4 inches, breaking his own school record yet again,
The 4 by 400 relay team, consisting of Devin Clarke, Zakell Johnson, Cephas Harden, and Harry Talmage, who finished 3rd at regionals with a time of 3:30.09, breaking the school record of 3:30.54, which has been held by Thomas Mayo, Nelson Athey, Desmond Smith, and Curtis Hopkins since 1989.
Zakell Johnson in the 200, who met the state qualifying time last week with a 22.79,
Harry Talmage, who met the state qualifying time at Fluvanna Invitational with a 2:03.88, and
the 4 by 100 relay team, consisting of Bradley Clore, Jordan Jefferson, Devin Clarke, and Zakell Johnson, who met the state qualifying time last week with a 44.92.
Congratulations to Matt and the 4 by 4 relay team, who placed in the top 6 and earned All-Region recognition, and all the others who made an extremely valiant effort. Please support these athletes and encourage them as they head to the single A State Track Meet next Saturday at Radford University.
