BALANCED MAN SCHOLARSHIP - The Virginia Beta Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity is offering three Balanced Man Scholarships totaling $1,000 to outstanding freshman males entering
Virginia Commonwealth University next year. They are offering these scholarships to the incoming male students who best embody the principles of the Balanced Man. Their aim is to recognize and reward men who strive to achieve balance, all-around excellence, as they believe it to be essential in achieving a satisfying college experience and life. To qualify, applicants must be attending Virginia Commonwealth University in the Fall of 2012, complete and return the application which can be picked up in Guidance, along with a copy of his official high school transcript. CONGRESS-BUNDESTAG YOUTH EXCHANGE SCHOLARSHIP - It is a high school student exchange program fully funded by the U.S. Congress and the German Bundestag (Parliament.) Each year, CIEE administers 50 scholarships for American high school students to live and study in Germany on a one-year full scholarship. The program aims to foster cultural understanding and diplomacy, while promoting the learning of the German language by direct cultural immersion. Previous knowledge of German language is not required. Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange (CBYX) scholars are considered youth ambassadors of the U.S. and expected to learn more about the political systems of their country and Germany. JCI SENATE FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP - Each year $1,000 grants will be awarded to graduating high school seniors in the United States, who plan to continue their education at accredited post-secondary colleges, universities or vocational schools. These scholarships target students with a strong commitment to theatre and a demonstrated record of academic excellence. Pridemore Scholarship - Tuition Award: $2,000 (Renewable for three additional years - Total award over four years: $8,000) and GeorgAnne Voland Buck Scholarship - Tuition Award: $1,400 (first year only). A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3 (on a 4.0 scale) and combined SAT's of 1100 (or higher) or an ACT of 24 (or higher) and ability to demonstrate an outstanding level of achievement in theatre through the presentation of an audition or portfolio are required. Students must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA, good conduct and consistent involvement in theatre to renew the scholarship each year. BUICK ACHIEVERS SCHOLARSHIP - The prestigious Buick Achievers Scholarship has expanded eligibility to include current college undergraduates as well as high school seniors. GREATER RICHMOND RELOCATION COUNCIL (GRRC) 2012 SCHOLARSHIP - The GRRC sponsors a scholarship program for current high school seniors who have relocated into the Richmond area sometime between grades 9 (after 8th grade graduation) and 12. The GRRC would like to encourage your students to apply. The one-time awards of $1,000 each will be presented to three Richmond/Chesterfield/Hanover, Goochland/Powhatan area public high school senior this year. The award will be sent to the college that the student will be attending to assist with tuition, etc. The GRRC will select scholarship winners based on the strength of their total package. MID-ATLANTIC CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY CHRISTIAN CHARACTER AND LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIP - Students must attend Mid-Atlantic Christian University in order to receive this scholarship. This scholarship has two award levels: Level A - $15,000.00 and Level B - $10,000.00. Criteria for the awards include evidence of Christian character, demonstrated leadership ability, and the specified minimum unweighted GPA. The awarded student must maintain the specified minimum GPA while enrolled at Mid-Atlantic Christian and be enrolled for fifteen credit hours each semester (minimum). JANICE M. SCOTT MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND (JMSMSF) - They will only accept application packets if one or both parents has/ave a total adjusted income of $100,000 or less. The minimum grade-point-average has been increased from 2.50 or higher to 3.0 or higher. Documents in the submission packets are not to be stapled or paper clipped. Applicants are required to line-through with an ink pen or white-out any sensitive information such as social security number(s) on any document in their application submission packets to the Fund. THE VIRGINIA HISPANIC CHAMBER OF COMMERCE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM SPONSORED BY CAPITAL ONE - The Virginia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and Capital One will award two $5,000 scholarships to two high school seniors pursuing higher education. The Virginia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and Capital One have come together to fund this scholarship to reinforce the value of learning. These scholarships are intended for graduating Latino students who demonstrate leadership, community involvement, academic excellence, and extracurricular activities. ROTARY CLUB OF GOOCHLAND 2012 SERVICE ABOVE SELF SCHOLARSHIP - The Rotary Club of Goochland will award a one-time scholarship of at least $1500 to a graduating senior who attends Goochland High School or resides in Goochland County, and who plans to attend a two or four year college or university. Dependents of members of the Rotary Club of Goochland are not eligible. The scholarship must be used within two years of graduation. The scholarship will officially be awarded in May or June of this year, and the recipient will be asked to attend a meeting of the Rotary Club of Goochland. Further information on the disbursement of scholarship funds will be provided to the scholarship recipient. Applicants must complete the attached two-page application, which includes submission of a copy of their current transcript (unofficial is acceptable) and at least two (2) letters of recommendation. THE COMEBACK ATHLETE OF THE YEAR COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP - An award that recognizes the male and female high school athletes who best exemplify the 'comeback spirit' by distinguishing themselves in competition after rehabilitating a serious injury. (1) Open to student-athletes in their senior year of high school who attend a public or private high school in the cities of Richmond, Petersburg or Colonial Heights, and he counties of Hopewell, Amelia, Brunswick, Charles City, Chesterfield, Cumberland, Dinwiddie, Goochland, Greensville, Hanover, Henrico, New Kent, Nottoway, Powhatan, Prince George or Sussex. (2) Candidates must have suffered an injury serious enough to interrupt athletic participation (team practices, games or individual workouts)
for a minimum of two months. This injury should not have occurred earlier than August 1 of their freshman year. (3) Athletes must compete and distinguish themselves in at least one varsity high school sport following their injury. The most important criterion in judging will be whether the athlete reaches his or her fullest athletic potential, post-injury. Receiving all-star recognition at the district, regional or state level is not a prerequisite to winning this award, although such honors will be considered. As part of this commitment, the members of Westhampton Lodge No. 302 have established a Scholarship Fund to help finance the education of selected college-bound students.
