Something to add to your bag of tricks:
Break things down...Never give more than 3 to 5 problems or 3 to 5 minute readings.
...even if you have a worksheet of 20 questions...
“All right. You have 2 minutes to complete #s 1-4.” (Use your Promethean Board timer.) Walk around the room until the timer counts down. Take time to go over #s 1-4 and then move on to #s 5-8!
This way most everyone will be on the same page and you can move on at a quicker pace. Disciplinary issues will decrease because the group of students finished first won’t get bored and start talking/goofing off!
