GMS Book Fair

The GMS BOGO Book Fair is going to be in the LMC on May 4th - 8th.  It will also be open on May 7th during PTA, from 6:30 until 8:45 p.m. (it will be closed during the PTA meeting). Volunteers are needed to help at the Book Fair.  If you have some free time and can help please contact .  We are going to have a scanner which will help with the paperwork this year.  The schedule is listed below to show you what times are still available - it would be helpful to have two volunteers during each time slot.  Thanks for any assistance you can contribute.

GMS 6th grade band

A very special congratulations goes out to the 6th grade beginning band! They have made GMS Band history on Saturday. They earned first place band with a rating of superior. I have been doing the Busch Gardens and Kings Dominion trips for 8 years now and we’ve never had a band get a superior rating. This group was the first.  We also made more history today by receiving the Grand Champion Award for Middle/High School Concert Band! One of our competitors was a double A 7th and 8th grade band from Northern VA. This is truly a special group of kids! I am very proud of them for setting and achieving their goals. They worked together as a team and it has paid off.  If you see a 6th grade band kid please congratulate them they really deserve it.  Mr. Jay Sykes

GCPS Cafeteria’s Local Produce Day

Starting on March the 18th the GCPS cafeterias has been and will continue to serve Virginia grown products on a monthly basis for the remainder of the school year. Our goals are to provide our students with the freshest products possible, while offering nutrition and agriculture education. We want our students to understand where the food they eat comes from, the effect their food choices have on their bodies and the importance of supporting the local economy along with the benefits of reducing transportation and protecting our farmland.
On April 22nd, we will be serving organic beef tacos. The beef will be purchased from Brookview Farm in Manakin-Sabot, VA. This should be a real treat for our students and faculty (and supportive of our local economy!)

Congratulations

Congratulations go out to Mr. R. Spessard who coaches the GMS girls soccer team! He was selected from all the soccer coaches in our area to coach the ALL STATE SOCCER TEAM.
This is quite an honor! Best wishes with the team!
