The Eagle Cafe’ is run by the students in Ms. Edwards’s Foods and Wellness classes.  It will be open to faculty and staff every Friday during all lunches.  All items are prepared and cooked to order.  Customers may choose to dine in or carry out.  All the employees are very well trained and instructed by Ms. Edwards herself.  The grand opening was a success and we all look forward to many more delicious Friday lunches. Check out Ms. Edwards’s blog for more information.

GMS PTA Events and meeting - November 5, 2009

Hello everyone, many thanks for joining the PTA and/or Eagle Direct!

It’s taken a while, but we finally have our e-announcement system up and running. Hopefully, you will find this biweekly e-mail newsworthy.

Announcements:
1.  All PTA members should have received their membership cards and 2009-2010 GMS Student Directory. Please let us know if you don’t have yours.

2.  Those who donated $25 to our UNfundraiser, “Eagle Direct” should have received their “GMS” car clings in the mail last week. If you prefer a decal to the car cling, please let us know and we will get one to you when that order comes in.

3.  Do you know what is happening on your child’s cell phone and computer? This Thursday, the PTA presents “Keeping your Child Safe in Cyberspace”, featuring a panel of expert guests and topics including:

“Child Safety in Cyberspace”—Jeff Deem and Kevin Hiner, cyber detectives with the Richmond City Police Departmetn who specialize in Internet Crimes Against Children
“Keep it Clean: How to ensure your personal information is not abused in cyberspace”—Glenn Dardick IT professor at Longwood University and editor of the Journal of Digital Forensics, Security and Law.
“Cyberbullying and GCPS Internet Policies” John Hendron, webmaster, GCPS

The program begins at 7 p.m. in the media center and will be followed by a hands-on computer/Internet orientation with a focus on cyber safety for parents. ALSO, a reception and display of student artwork by GMS students will follow.

4.  Don’t forget to continue to check our blog for more PTA updates. The blog can be accessed from the school website.
