Mrs. Johnette H. Burdette is principal of Goochland Middle School School. My responsibilities include setting the overall climate and culture of the building, in addition to maintaining and ensuring an environment conducive to learning for all students and staff. As the instructional leader, I set the tone for lifelong learning and modeling the attributes of a productive citizen. I am committed to fostering relationships with the community, and society at large. My daily responsibilities include, but are not limited to: student discipline, building security and cleanliness, athletics, relationships with stakeholders, personnel supervision, teacher evaluations, student achievement data and meeting adequate yearly progress goals.

I am honored and humbled each day as I think about the awesome responsibility I have in leading such a phenomenal school. It is my humble belief that we must establish meaningful relationships and connects prior to educating children. As the building principal I take my duties very seriously, I am committed to assembling a top notch staff, to carry out the mission and vision of our school.
A graduate of Saint Paul’s College in Lawrenceville VA, I hold a B. A in Political Science, a Minor in History, and an Endorsement in Secondary Education. After teaching for 3 years, I completed a M. Ed. in Educational Leadership from VCU. As I model the idea of life long learning, I will begin work towards a Doctoral Degree in Educational Policy from Virginia Tech this fall.
The daughter of an educator, I was raised to not only respect the educational system, but to appreciate the many gifts it offers. My husband Brad and I have two children, Callie (8) and Bradley (4). I meet each day as a challenge to deliver a quality education befitting of my own children.
