Want to know more about school nutrition?

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has a great family-friendly resource called Choose My Plate. This website offers guidance on making healthy eating choices. Likewise, the School Nutrition Association offers a similar website on making healthy eating choices in the school cafeteria. Check both of these websites out with your kids today!

Free and Reduced Price Meals

Children need healthy meals to learn. Goochland County Public Schools offers healthy meals every school day. Student breakfast costs $ 1.15 for Elementary and 1.25 for Secondary. Lunch costs $2.30 for Elementary and $2.40 for Secondary. Your children may qualify for free meals or for reduced price meals. Reduced price breakfast costs $.30 cents and lunch costs $ .40 cents. All meals served must meet standards established by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. However, if a student has been determined by a doctor to be disabled and the disability prevents the student from eating the regular school meal, the school will make substitutions prescribed by the doctor. If a substitution is prescribed, there will be no extra charge for the meal. If your student needs substitutions because of a disability, please contact Lisa Landrum at 556-5604 for further information. For more information on free and reduced price meals at school, read our letter that went home to households at the start of the 2012-13 SY.

Fill out the Free and Reduced Price Meal Program application form (in PDF format). You can also request a paper copy by contacting Lisa Landrum at 556-5604.

Pre-Paying for School Meals

Goochland County Schools offers MyPaymentsPlus, an online service that provides you the convenience and information you need to manage your student’s meal account. This system speeds up serving lines in the cafeteria, eliminates the need to send checks to school or worry about lost or forgotten lunch money, and ensures that your child will receive a nutritious meal.

For the 2012-2013 school year, we strongly encourage all parents (even if you do not prepay for your student’s meal account) to create an account at no cost through www.mypaymentsplus.com. To create a new account, follow the onscreen directions and register your student using their Student ID number led by a zero (0).  Student ID numbers can be obtained by: contacting your child’s school office or the School Nutrition Office at 804-556-5604.

You can use this service at no cost to:

  • Create a free, secured account to manage your student’s meal accounts,
  • Check your student’s current account balance,
  • Monitor the items your student has been purchasing in the cafeteria,
  • Create settings to receive email notifications when the account reaches a low balance.

You can also manage meal payments through an iOS app for iPhone.
