Bus Drivers Honored

Amy Powers named driver of the year

The 31st annual Virginia School Bus Drivers Safe Driving Awards banquet was held on Thursday night, May 3, at Goochland High School.  This award recognized Goochland County Public Schools bus drivers for their service in keeping our students safe as they travel to and from school each day.  Betty Thurston, Supervisor of Transportation, states
“She is very proud of our team of drivers and the outstanding job they do each day.”

This year the Driver of the Year award goes to Mrs. Amy Powers, 1st runner up Mrs. Cindy Eddy and 2nd runner up, Mrs. Dana Johnson.  The school principals nominated these drivers for of their exemplary service and safe driving.  Mrs. Betty Jo Houston received the Drivers’ Choice Award and Mr. Ron Haley received the Broom and Sponge Award for keeping the cleanest bus in the fleet.  Congratulations to all recipients!
