On Monday morning, August 16th, staff from all schools convened at Goochland High School to start off the school year with a message from superintendent, Dr. Linda Underwood.
Staff was recognized for years of service, including Janice Garretson for 25 years of service and principal Dianna Gordon for 30 years of service. Teacher of the year Heather Wilckens spoke to teachers as well. John Hendron presented the county's first G21 Faire award to GMS teacher Elizabeth Curfman for her project focused on supporting victims of the Haiti earthquake.
A theme for the school year is centered on reaching all children, including those affected by poverty. Professional development on this topic begins this afternoon in each school. Teachers are excited to be back, and we hope to have a great school year!
