Parent-Teacher Conferences Canceled

This Thursday, Goochland County Public Schools planned to host another Parent-Teacher conference day. Because Goochland’s schools will be closed on Thursday, February 4, 2010, the conference day is canceled as well.

We invite parents to schedule a time with teachers when school resumes to set up a conference time if you would like to have one with your child’s teacher. You’ll find a list of teacher e-mail addresses on each school’s website.

The recent weather conditions have unfortunately robbed us of valuable instructional time. You’ll find that our teacher blogs have been updated through this period and may offer students things to think about or practice while home from school. Our number one priority has to be the safety of our students, be it in the classroom or on our school buses. Many secondary roads, most of the subdivisions, cul-de-sacs and snow-blocked dead-end roads are simply unsafe for our school buses. The major roadways may appear to be clear but that isn’t the case across the county. We assure you that we are reconsidering throughout every day consulting with VDOT, the sheriff’s office, and other school divisions, as well as our own bus drivers regarding the status of roads. We are hopeful that we can return to a normal schedule as soon as possible. Stay tuned to our website, our school messenger system, or local media coverage for updates on our operational status.
