Author Visit for Grades 3-5: Steve Cotler
We are pleased to announce that on the afternoon of Tuesday, November 18, author, Steve Cotler, will be visiting our 3rd-5th grade Roadrunners!
A few years ago, the Reading Olympics committee selected Mr. Cotler’s hilarious book, Cheesie Mack is Not a Genius or Anything, as one of the must-read titles for our 4th & 5th graders participating in the program. 4th grade teacher, Beth Ferguson (one of our amazing RO coaches!) blogged about his book as she read it with her students...and Mr. Cotler read her blog!!! He contacted her, said he’d be in the area this November, and offered a discounted rate to visit our school.
Students (and teachers!) have an opportunity to purchase autographed copies of his books. The attached flyer will be sent home to all 3rd-5th grade families if anyone is interested in pre-ordering copies of his books. All order forms should be sent to the Office by the morning of November 18.
To prepare for this visit, Mrs. Susan Vaughan, RES Library-Media Specialist, will be pre-reading up to the end of chapter 3 in Mr. Cotler’s first book, Cheesie Mack is Not a Genius or Anything, with all students in grades 3-5 this week during Library classes. He has asked that we do not go beyond chapter 3 for purposes of his presentation.
Tuesday, November 18 in the RES Library-Media Center
1:00-2:00 PM ~ Grade 5, Mrs. Ferguson & Mrs. Gates
2:00-3:00 PM ~ Grade 3, Mrs. Hadd & Ms. Abbott
Special thanks go out to the RES PTA for providing the funds to make this visit happen!
If you have any questions, . Thank you!
