RES is looking for community members that would be interested in being mentors through the Man-to-Man and Woman-to-Woman mentor programs. This program is going to be held twice a month at Randolph Elementary, Men on Thursdays and Women on Wednesdays, from 8-8:30 AM. This is an awesome opportunity to connect with students at RES and discuss various topics such as goals for the school year or how to learn from mistakes. These two groups should start at the end of September!
If you are interested in participating as a Mentor, please contact Sarah Armstrong:
5th Grade iPad Pre-Deployment Information
GCPS has created an Apple ID for each RES 5th grade student. It is completely different from any Apple ID families may have created in the past. Parents of 5th graders need to create the password for the Apple ID. If parents gave us an email address on Business Night (or if there is a working email address in Power School), then they should have received an email from Apple that directs them to set up the password. If needed, parents can use the information on this link for support when setting up the Apple ID. This page is also linked on the GCPS homepage.
If parents did not receive an email from Apple, or if they would like support setting the password for the Apple ID, then they should come to one of the Pre-Deployment Nights (which were the original dates set). Parents can come to anyone of the nights at GES, RES, BES, or GMS.
Pre-Deployment Nights ~ 5:30-7:30 PM
Thursday August 28 - GES 4th and 5th grade only
Tuesday September 2 - RES
Wednesday September 3 - BES
Thursday September 4 - GMS
Monday, September 8, GES 3rd grade
Important information: Parents must set up the password for the Apple ID created by Goochland County in order for their student to receive an iPad. As described above, parents can do this from home or at one of our nights. If parents were able to complete this process at home, then they do not need to come to the Pre-Deployment Night.
Parent Volunteer Info
Parents who plan to volunteer in the classroom or attend/chaperone school-sponsored field trips must have a background check on file. These background checks do not need to be completed every year. The background checks are good for as long as the parent is an active GCPS volunteer.
Parents can stop by the GCPS Central Office on Thursday, August 21 or 28 and Thursday, September 4 or 11 from 8-10 AM to have a background check done without an appointment. Requests for other dates and times will be by appointment only. Parents can or call (804-556-5603) the GCPS Human Resources Specialist, Demetra Harris, to schedule a time.
