The PBS TV station filmed students at RES during lunch this past week.  The television station is doing a story on how our school cafeteria is creating a lunch menu that includes ingredients from local farms.  During the month of March, students have been treated to sweet potatoes grown in Virginia.  The farmer who grew these sweet potatoes visited with students at RES to talk about the nutritional value of sweet potatoes and the importance of farming.  Be sure to watch for the segment on PBS!

*The 4th grade Science Fair projects will be on display in the library from March 6-13.
6—Reading Month Dress Up Day: Dress as a character from a Western or Superhero movie!
10—5th grade SOL writing test

12—1:00 PM dismissal from school for students
13—Reading Month Dress Up Day:  Dress as a character from a Musical or Animated movie!

Be sure to note these changes in the RES School Calendar:

*The 5th grade SOL Writing Tests will now be held on Tuesday, March 10th and Wednesday, March 11th.
The tests will be given at the beginning of the school day, so please do not schedule any other appointments that would prevent the 5th graders from taking these important tests.  Students should get a full night of sleep and eat a nutritional breakfast in order to achieve their personal best on the SOL tests.  We are proud of their accomplishments and wish them the best!

*The end of the school year calendar has also changed. Students will now be attending school on June 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12 to make up for the four snow days lost during the school year.  Students will be dismissed at 11:00 AM on last day of school which will now be on Friday, June 12th.
