Friday Teacher Feature:  Mrs. Potter

Congratulations to RES first grade teacher, Mrs. Amie Potter, for being selected as the Teacher of the Week!  Mrs. Potter will have the privilege of parking in the “Teacher of the Week” parking spot next week.

Amie demonstrates a high degree of professionalism in her classroom and in her school-wide performance. She is one of the first to volunteer for a committee, offer to assume an added responsibility, take additional coursework, speak at an elementary conference, or provide professional development for colleagues. Her enthusiasm for teaching encourages and motivates her students to achieve. Each year Mrs. Potter continues to grow professionally and broaden her knowledge in the field of education. She has succeeded in molding a spirit of cohesion among her students and their diverse backgrounds. The RES family is very proud of her. ~ Mrs. Dianna Gordon, RES Principal

Goochland Drive-In Fundraiser

The Goochland Drive-In is having a “Family Fundraiser Movie Night” to benefit all GCPS PTA groups. 

MOVIE:  Dolphin Tale, rated PG.
WHEN:  Wednesday, October 5, 2011
TIME:  Gates open @ 5:30 PM; show begins @ 7:15 PM
COST:  Ages 12 & up ~ $3.00; Kids 4-11 ~ $1.00; Babies ~ free

Friday Teacher Feature: Mrs. Zorger

Congratulations to School Counselor, Mrs. Jessica Zorger, the RES Educator of the Week!  Mrs. Zorger will get to use the “Teacher of the Week” parking spot next week.


Jess is an integral member of the Randolph Family. She excels in providing counseling, community, consultation and testing services within our school. She collaborates with classroom teachers regarding student’s academic, social, and behavioral concerns. Our staff relies heavily on Mrs. Zorger to quickly and efficiently follow through on their referrals and concerns and to work diligently to complete each case. She is identified by our faculty and parents as a counselor who sincerely cares. There is no greater accolade! ~ Mrs. Dianna Gordon, RES Principal

Friday Teacher Feature:  Mrs. Gates

Congratulations to third grade teacher, Mrs. Jennifer Gates, the RES Teacher of the Week!  She will get to park in the “Teacher of the Week” parking spot in front of the school next week.

  • Jen’s an amazing teacher with tremendous creativity and energy.  Mrs. Gates is committed to providing learning experiences of high quality, and evidenced her extensive planning and class preparedness.  She brings a wealth of fresh knowledge to the classroom, and we are so fortunate to have her in our RES family. ~ Mrs. Dianna Gordon, RES Principal

  • PTA’s Back to School Night

    Come and “Meet the Teacher” at our PTA Back to School Night on Tuesday, September 20th.

  • CiCi’s Pizza will be at RES from 5 - 7 PM.  Parents, children, and teachers may purchase two pieces of pizza, a drink, and a brownie for $5.00.
  • The PTA meeting starts at 7:00 PM in the cafeteria with parents.
  • While the meeting is going on at 7 PM, with parents in the cafeteria, students who want to play outside on the playground may do so. Some staff members will be outside to supervise the children.
  • A bell will ring at about 7:20 PM to let students know they need to come inside to “Meet the Teacher” and share what they’ve been learning with their parents.

  • Friday Teacher Feature: Miss Hughes

    Congratulations to 5th grade teacher, Karen Hughes, for being selected as Randolph Elementary School’s Teacher of the Week!  She will get to park in the special Teacher of the Week parking spot next week.

    Miss Hughes is new to RES this year after teaching in Clarke County for the past five years.  RES Principal, Dianna Gordon, noted that she was impressed with how knowledgeable Miss Hughes is of the curriculum.  Mrs. Gordon went on to say that she feels confident that Miss Hughes will be an asset to this school and will have many opportunities for leadership.

  • Friday Teacher Feature: Mr. Snead

    Mr. Snead is the very first Friday Teacher Feature of the 2011-2012 school year!

    Mr. Snead is the new Music teacher at RES.  His lessons have been creative, interesting, hands-on, and informative.  During Music class, the fourth grade students enjoyed learning about the difference between notes and rests as well as getting a chance to play with the ”Boomwhackers” to perform a song.

  • Road Opens

    We have just received information from Transportation that Cardwell Road is now open all the way through, from Rt. 6 to Rt. 250.  The River Road area still remains closed.
