PRINCIPAL’S COFFEE

Parents are invited to join me at RES for a Principal's Coffee on Friday, January 27 at 7:30 a.m. Special guest, Dr. Steve Geyer, Director of Elementary Education, will all also be present to chat with parents.

1st Semester Honors Assembly

Students who have made the Honor Roll for the 1st nine weeks, 2nd nine weeks, or the entire first semester will be honored on Friday, January 20, 2012. The assembly will be held in the Multi-Purpose Room and begin at 9:00 a.m. We hope you will plan to join us as your honor student is recognized for his/her academic accomplishments.

Teachers Complete Gifted Course

Congratulations to 12 GCP teachers for pursuing professional development and completing one of the largest Gifted Classes offered by Va. Commonwealth University and Goochland County.

Eleven teachers represent Randolph Elementary School and one represents GMS. Through this final course, Mrs. Gordon proudly received her Gifted Endorsement certification. The teachers are as follows: front row-Addie Minns, Beth Ferguson, Jennifer Gates, Dianna Gordon, Stephanie Jarvis, Dr. Sherrill Donahoe-VCU Professor, Maryanne Tysinger, and Karen Hughes.  Back row - Kim Gentry, Amie Potter, Shelli Lawson, Laura Hatcher, and Joy Pechan. We applaud these teachers for their efforts and commitment to the students of Goochland County.

K-5 Winter Program

Students at RES will present our Winter Program on Dec. 12 in the auditorium at Goochland High School. Families are invited to join us for a wonderful childrens' program.The program begins at 7:00 p.m. Students in K-1 will gather in the high school media center at 6:45 p.m. Second and third grade students will meet in the cafeteria/commons area. Fourth and fifth grade chorus along with those who have speaking parts, will meet in the hallway beside the stage entrance. Parents are asked to drop off their students in the designated areas, and find themselves seating in the auditorium. After the program is over, parents may find their children in the respective areas. I especially want to thank elementary music teacher, Ms.Kim Watts, who wrote the play for our school, Mr. Andrew Snead, RES music teacher, and the entire staff at RES who have worked so diligently with students to learn their songs and speaking parts. Please plan to join us for an enjoyable family evening, that promises to promote the spirit of the holidays.

Mobile Dentist Program

The Mobile Dentists' Smile Virginia Program will be providing services to our county students from November 29, 2011 through December 1, 2011. If you are interested in having your child participate in this program, please return the application that was sent home earlier this month. Additional forms are available from the school nurse, Mrs. Marti VanEpps.
