Standards of Learning

Virginia's accountability system is designed to measure achievement through annual standards of learning (SOL) tests and alternate assessments. These assessments are administered to students primarily in the spring of each school year. Students are assessed in reading, mathematics, science, history/social science, and writing.

SOL and alternate assessment results are used to calculate adequate yearly progress (AYP) and accreditation ratings. Information about these state and federal mandates can be found on the Virginia Department of Education's School Report Card Page.

Below are the SOL and alternate assessment results for each school here in Goochland County:

For more information on the progress made by students in our schools, visit the Virginia DOE Report Cards page. Goochland’s testing coordinator is Ms. Shannon P. Lacy ().
