Richmond magazine says we're number 11!

This October, Richmond Magazine ran an article on the success of a number of metro-Richmond middle schools. They looked at a number of criteria and data points in trying to rank area schools. Our own Goochland Middle School was ranked number eleven, with a statistical rating of 48.42.

“I’m proud of our students and the dedication of our staff at making Goochland Middle School great,” said principal Johnette H. Burdette (pictured above). Thomas DeWeerd, Goochland’s director of secondary education, had this to say about being recognized: “While we’re not in real competition with area middle schools, it does feel good to be recognized as having one of the area’s better schools. Both Mrs. Burdette and Ms. Ashman at GMS have stressed excellence and it does really show.”

Richmond Magazine’s rankings were part of a longer feature on middle schools in their October, 2011 edition.
