Geyer and McCay appointed to new positions

At its May 24, 2011 meeting, the school board approved two appointments.

Dr. Stephen Geyer was named Director of Elementary Education and Title I.  Dr. Geyer comes to Goochland from Clarke County, where he has been a principal for eleven years.  He brings a wealth of practical experience in elementary educational leadership, Title I programming, literacy instruction, preschool education, and professional development. Dr. Geyer has also served as adjunct faculty for the University of Virginia Educational Leadership program.

Mrs. Tina McCay was named Principal of Goochland Elementary School.  Mrs. McCay has been employed by the Goochland County Public Schools since 1999 as a teacher at Goochland Elementary School, Interim Elementary and Title I Specialist, and Title I Parent Involvement and Elementary Specialist.  She has served as Lead Teacher, Summer School Principal, and School-based Gifted Coordinator, and chair of the School Improvement Planning Team.  Mrs. McCay was named Goochland County Teacher of the Year in 2004.

We are extremely pleased to have Dr. Geyer and Mrs. McCay appointed to these leadership positions. They will begin work in their new assignments on July 1.
