FindingYourComputersSerialNumber

Technology team members might ask for your computer's serial number prior to ordering replacement parts. There are two ways of getting that number.

The first method involves taking out your laptop's battery to find the number printed on the label inside the compartment. To do this you need to shut down your computer and unlock the battery. Teachers are busy and don't always have time to shut down and restart their computers.

The second method is much faster.

Click on the Apple menu and select About This Mac.

When the window appears, click on the text under Mac OS X and the message will change. Click again until the serial number is displayed.

Use the Command+Control+Shift+4 keyboard shortcut to take a screenshot of the serial number and paste the image in an email message.
